This weekend promises to be a great one here in Georgetown, with several special events happening on Saturday.

Archival Art and the Art of Mining

The grand opening of this exhibit is this Saturday, July 25, at the Hamill House Museum Carriage House. In celebration of 150 years of gold mining in Colorado, Historic Georgetown has gathered original works from Colorado artists (as well as some from other states) that are related to mining.

A reception to unveil these art pieces and present awards is being held from 5:30 to 8:30 in the Carriage House. All the art work is available for purchase.


Silver Plumes Among The Gold:

The nearby town of Silver Plume is celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Gold Rush by presenting a Home Tour this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Featured will be 8 restored mining cabins, the old Catholic Church (now a private residence), the Town Hall and the Methodist Church.

There is a variety of activities throughout the day, including live music at noon and 3 p.m. and a Granite-Splitting demonstration at 1 p.m. This is sure to be an unique and fun day for all.

Empire's 2nd Annual Art Walk:

If you enjoy art, this is the place to be this Saturday. Yes, indeed, you can actually walk through the town to view (and purchase) art from more than 28 artists. The fun begins at 10 and lasts until 5.

Just drive up to Empire and park your car, pick up a "Walking Tour Guide" from any business in town. Then follow the colorful windsocks to visit with the artists and see their displays of stained glass, custom furniture, pottery, handwovens, paintings, woodcarving, alpine gardens and much more.
